The room the group grew from

Crown Republic Gastropub opened on Sycamore Street in 2018. It was the first room, and the name the whole group grew out of: everything Crown Restaurant Group has opened since traces back to what worked here.

The idea was a neighborhood gastropub that took the food as seriously as a restaurant twice the price and none of the attitude that usually comes with it. Rustic flavors pulled from wherever the kitchen has been looking that season, a burger people order without reading the menu, handmade pasta, and a bar staffed by people who will make you the thing you actually want rather than the thing on the list.

Brunch became its own institution. Friday through Sunday the kitchen runs it until 3:30 — baked french toast, buttermilk pancakes, mimosa service for the table — and the room fills with a completely different crowd than the one that shows up at seven. Downtown workers claim the lunch shift; the patio on Sycamore claims everything from April to October, yellow umbrellas and all.

It is the easiest room in the group to bring a group to. Private dining sits off the main floor, large-format tables work without a month of planning, and the kitchen is used to feeding twenty people who all want something different.
